This article explains why some of the testimonials you collect through TopRec turn into public reviews on Google, Facebook and LinkedIn while others do not, and how replying to your testimonials helps convert more of them into public reviews.
How testimonials become public reviews
When someone you have worked with leaves you a testimonial through TopRec (a candidate you have placed, or a hiring manager or client), and the rating is high, they are also invited to share that testimonial as a public review on the platforms you have connected: Google, Facebook and LinkedIn.
TopRec takes them straight to the platform they choose with their testimonial ready to post, so the process is as easy as possible for them. Posting the public review is the one step that only the reviewer can complete, though. If they do not finish that final step, the testimonial still sits safely in your TopRec dashboard, it simply does not appear as a public review on the third-party platform.
Note: Not every testimonial becomes a public review. The final step, posting on Google, Facebook or LinkedIn, can only be completed by the reviewer, and some will not get around to it. Replying to your testimonials is one of the simplest ways to encourage more of them to follow through.
How replying helps convert more reviews
Replying to a testimonial does two things at once. It thanks the person for taking the time to leave their feedback, which is good practice in its own right, and it re-engages them at the moment they are thinking about you, giving them another prompt to post their review publicly.
The video at the top of this article walks you through replying to a testimonial in your dashboard.
Idea: Keep your reply personal. Mentioning something specific from their feedback feels genuine and is far more likely to prompt someone to post their review publicly than a generic thank-you.
Tips to convert more testimonials into reviews
- Reply promptly. A reply that lands within a day or two, while the testimonial is still fresh, converts far better than one that arrives weeks later.
- Point people at one platform. Asking for a review on a single platform (Google is usually the best choice) removes the "which one?" hesitation that stops people finishing.
- Check your review links are set up. TopRec can only send reviewers to Google, Facebook or LinkedIn once you have added those links to your account.
Final Notes
Public reviews build up over time. The recruiters and teams who get the most out of TopRec are the ones who reply consistently and keep the process simple for the reviewer. Reply to every testimonial you can, keep it personal, and point people to a single platform.
