What happens if you already 'know' a referred candidate?

The short answer to this question is, it depends.

If the candidate is in your database with the same email address, we treat this as the same candidate since we use the email address as the unique identifier. If this candidate is then referred by someone, it will be up to your own referral scheme terms and conditions as to whether you reward this referral, however, Refari will attribute this referral to the referrer.

If the candidate has already been referred by a different referrer, we will reference your candidate ownership period to see if this candidate is still owned by another referrer. If not, we will update the referal ownership to the new referrer. If the candidate is still owned by another referrer we will not make any changes at all.
